- Krebs on Security reported in July 2022 that Microleaves, a proxy service that routes traffic through Windows PCs and was being rebranded as Shifter.io, was classified by antivirus vendors as adware or a potentially unwanted program, and that data exposed in a breach showed affiliates were incentivized to distribute its software by any means, such as secretly bundling it with other programs.
