- GreyNoise reported in October 2026 that an attacker compromised at least 143 network edge devices in 34 countries and installed Pawns.app, which GreyNoise describes as a direct partner of IPRoyal, to earn money from their bandwidth. Source
- AhnLab's ASEC reported in September 2026 that the threat actor Larva-25012 was installing IPRoyal's proxyware on systems it had already infected, without the users' consent. Source
- AhnLab's ASEC reported in August 2023 that attackers breaking into poorly managed MS-SQL servers were installing IPRoyal Pawns proxyware on them, along with Traffmonetizer, Proxyrack and PacketStream, to profit from their bandwidth. Source
